There have been no changes in DHEC guidance for school nurses with regards to COVID-19. It is important to remember that this virus is droplet and not airborne. Education is key. We continue to see cases of flu and are beginning to see symptoms of seasonal allergies. Flu, seasonal allergies,COVID-19? Educate on the symptoms of each. Continue to promote good hand hygiene, handwashing, cough etiquette, wiping down surfaces and instructing employees and students who are sick to stay home.
The DHEC Care Line (1-855-472-3432) is available to provide general information about COVID-19.
Per DHEC, if an individual does not have a primary care provider, MUSC Health is providing free telehealth screening to all South Carolinians. Anyone experiencing symptoms can visit MUSC.care and use the promo code COVID19 and be screened without having to leave home.
